Planning for Perfection: How Far in Advance Should You Buy Your Engagement Ring?
So, you’ve found your person, fallen in love, envisioned the perfect future and now it’s time to make it official: you’ve gotta pop the question! This huge and sometimes nerve-racking decision is just the first of many as you journey to that knee dropping and jaw dropping moment that ends with an enthusiast “YES!” However, planning a memorable proposal is like staging a whole production: When? Where? How? What’s my angle? Should I try an accent? I’m not going to be in the chorus again or I QUIT!
Sorry. We got carried away with the production analogy…
But before you fall down the rabbit hole of deciding whether to propose in a hot air balloon at sunset or while eating lasagna take out over the sink (Swoon! So romantic!), you need to cast the star of the show: the engagement ring.
When Should You Buy an Engagement Ring?
The general consensus that you’ll find when consulting the glorious land of Google is that you should purchase an engagement ring 3 months before you plan to pop the question. It makes sense: there are plenty of to-do list items that need to be crossed off before you’re down on one knee! The 3-month timeline gives you a solid runway for thinking up romantic proposal ideas, plus coordinating any travel or reservations you may need to pull it off.
Here are a few things to keep in mind while you navigate the blissful fog of proposal planning:
Finding “The One”
The ring you choose is the physical embodiment of your partner’s personal style, their distinctive charms, and the unspeakable bond you both have that you cherish so deeply and will carry on into eternity. No pressure, right? Finding the perfect engagement ring is no small task, so give yourself time to shop around.
It’s typical to browse 2-4 retailers before making a final selection, but if you’re looking for truly unique engagement rings, you may find yourself scouring dozens of boutiques. Pro tip: skip all the guesswork and undercover spy research you’ve gotta do to pull off a surprise engagement ring. While we get wanting to live your private investigator fantasy, roughly two thirds of couples choose the ring together these days. Enlist the help of your future spouse to really speed up the shopping process, and ensure you’re getting an engagement ring that matches their personality.
And if you’re among the one third of shoppers who insist on a surprise proposal, take advantage of the in-house experts at Rosie Ray! You know your partner better than anybody else, and we know these rings like the back of our hands. We would love to hear you gush about your spouse-to-be so we can connect you to the ideal engagement ring.

You Can’t Rush Perfection… or the Postal Service.
More and more soon-to-be-betrothed (<---so fancy!) are shopping online for engagement rings. This brings shipping times into the equation. Even in-store selections may need some time to arrive too if you’re ordering a ring size that’s not in stock, or you’re counting on customizations.
Rosie Ray engagement rings, for example, are handcrafted to order, so you can expect to wait 3-4 weeks before you have your ring in hand. Don’t freak out, though; if you’ve landed here because you’re worried that you’re too late for a Proposal Season engagement, our selection of engagement rings make their way to you fast with free 2-day shipping, once completed. What’s more romantic than an impulsive, impromptu proposal, anyway?
Expect the Unexpected.
You know what they say about the best laid plans: they are best when laid. Is that what they say? Anyway, our point is it may take you a few weeks to find the perfect ring, then a few more weeks to get it shipped, and then it’s a good idea to build in an extra month or so of wiggle room. Perhaps you want to resize the ring, or decide to get it engraved, or just stare at it longingly while you plan the ultimate proposal. So, shop smart. Choose a brand with quick 2-day shipping like Rosie Ray, for example, to guarantee some cushion in your timeline.
Who knows? The perfect moment to propose may sneak up on you a bit early, and you’ll be glad that ring is burning a hole in your pocket!
…because our rings are made of fire. Did we forget to mention that?

Lab Diamond vs. Natural Diamond: The Differences You Need to Know
Finding the perfect engagement ring is no easy task. When searching for women’s wedding rings, there are so many different things to look for: center stone, price, style, color, comfort, the list goes on! Yet, when it comes to the engagement ring, many women have one thing on there mind: a diamond center stone.
The Claire
While we all know diamonds are a girl’s best friend, you'll have to figure out what type of diamond what type of diamond is right for you? You may not know it, but we offer two styles of diamonds at Rosie Ray: Lab-Grown Diamonds and Natural Diamonds.
When comparing the two, how does the debate between Lab Diamond vs. Natural Diamond add up?
What Are Lab Diamonds?
Lab-Grown Diamonds are stones manufactured in clean, sterile lab environments. The lab conditions recreate the natural geological processes that lead to the formation of diamonds in nature. Lab diamonds are real diamonds created by reverse engineering, the natural process that leads to diamonds.
If you’re wondering whether they’re real, yes they are! And while lab grown diamonds are man-made, rather than man-mined, any difference between natural and lab grown diamonds are so slight that they even appear identical to the human eye!

How Are Lab Diamonds Made?
Lab Diamonds are made in two ways: by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) processes. Let’s break those two processes down a bit!
By Vapor
CVD produced diamonds rely on a very small piece of Natural Diamond. The Natural Diamond is placed into a sterile chamber, where it is locked into place. Once the chamber is enclosed, it is filled with carbon gas. Once the chamber is full of gas, it is heated to a proper temperature, wherein the carbon will begin to crystallize – in layers – on the outside of the Natural Diamond “seed.” After enough time, it will produce a square Lab Diamond crystal. Once finished, the new Lab Diamond will be cut and polished by a professional for a center stone.

By Pressure
Scientists will also use HPHT to produce Lab Diamonds. This is considered to be a closer approximation to the way Natural Diamonds are formed in the Earth’s crust. Graphite is placed into a machine, which forces extreme pressure and temperature onto it. These conditions are akin to how Natural Diamonds are produced over millions of years, all within one lab session. Once finished, a Lab Diamond has been produced and is ready for cutting and polishing.
But How Do Lab Diamonds Compare to Natural Ones?
Now, Natural Diamonds are obviously unique, solely because they are mined right out of the earth. After growing there for millions of years, they are mined and taken to diamond specialists to be put to work – where they are cut and polished into the shapes you know and love: round, princess, pear, etc.
Yet they’re hardly different from our lab grown Diamonds which are also cut and polished into, you guessed it, the shapes you know and love, as well!
To the naked eye, Lab and Natural Diamonds are indistinguishable from one another. Our lab grown diamonds are made to the exact same standards as Natural Diamonds, with the same durability and hardness.
The differences are imperceptible to the everyday person. It all comes down to nitrogen. Natural Diamonds contain nitrogen, which becomes a part of them in the process of crystallizing in the earth’s core. Lab grown Diamonds contain no nitrogen.
The important thing to remember is that there are no differences in the sparkle and brilliance between a lab diamond and a natural diamond that are detectable to anyone except a trained gemologist using a specialized microscope.

Are Lab Diamonds Really Worth It?
If you’re unsure whether Lab Diamonds stack up to Natural ones, have no fear. They absolutely do. Our high-quality Lab Diamonds are so similar to Natural Diamonds that you can’t tell the difference between them.
Yet if you’re still uncertain, just know that Lab Diamonds can be up to half the price of Natural Diamonds. In many cases, depending on the carat size, lab grown diamonds can be more than half the cost of natural diamonds. That alone is enough to fall for them. For essentially the same ring, you’re spending half the money, which you can turn around and put towards your wedding fund or pick out a lager carat for a little more bling!
Are Lab Diamonds Right for Me?
Whether or not Lab Diamonds are right for you is up to your own personal preference. After all, the only people who will know whether it’s a lab grown Diamond are you and your spouse. Beyond that, the rest of the world will see it as a beautiful, eye-catching diamond.
Determining which is right for you will depend on your budget and preferences. With a little research, you can find your perfect diamond engagement ring or diamond wedding band, whether it’s lab grown diamond or natural diamond.
No matter what you decide, Rosie Ray has a full collection of Natural and Lab Grown diamonds waiting for you. Whether you are looking for diamond engagement rings or women’s wedding bands or the perfect set, we have rings to match your style and budget.
